More Detail About Tenormin Drug Interactions
Reserpine
If you take
Tenormin with reserpine, your
blood pressure may decrease too much or your heart rate may slow dramatically. This can cause symptoms such as a spinning sensation (vertigo), lightheadedness, dizziness, or fainting. If you are taking Tenormin and reserpine together, your healthcare provider may choose to monitor your situation more closely and/or adjust your dose of these medicines.
Clonidine (Catapres, Duraclon)
If you are taking Tenormin with clonidine but then stop using the clonidine, your blood pressure may increase dramatically. Make sure to talk with your healthcare provider about how these medicines can be stopped safely.
Calcium Channel Blockers
If you are taking Tenormin with a
calcium channel blocker, your blood pressure may decrease too much or your heart rate may slow dramatically. This can cause symptoms such as a spinning sensation (vertigo), lightheadedness, dizziness, or fainting. If you are taking Tenormin and a
calcium channel blocker together, your healthcare provider may choose to monitor your situation more closely and/or adjust your dose of these medicines.
Indomethacin (Indocin)
Indomethacin may decrease the blood pressure-lowering effects of Tenormin. For your particular situation, talk with your healthcare provider about using indomethacin and Tenormin together.
Antacids Containing Calcium
Antacids containing calcium may decrease the absorption of Tenormin into the body. Therefore, it is generally recommended that if you are taking antacids with Tenormin, the antacids should be taken either one hour before or two hours after you take the Tenormin.
