Rythmol SR Drug Interactions
Before your healthcare provider prescribes Rythmol SR, he or she will need to know whether you are taking any other antiarrhythmia medications, digoxin, or other drugs. Interactions with Rythmol SR can lead to potentially serious side effects, heart rhythm problems, or other complications. In some cases, your healthcare provider may need to closely monitor you and adjust the dosages of your medications.
An Overview of Interactions With Rythmol SR
Rythmol SR® (propafenone SR) can potentially interact with a few other medications. Some of the products that may lead to drug interactions with Rythmol SR include but are not limited to:- Aripiprazole (Abilify®)
- Certain antiarrhythmia medications, such as:
- Amiodarone (Cordarone®, Pacerone®)
- Disopyramide (Norpace®, Norpace® CR)
- Dofetilide (Tikosyn®)
- Dronedarone (Multaq®)
- Ibutilide (Corvert®)
- Procainamide
- Quinidine
- Sotalol (Betapace®)
- Certain beta blockers, such as:
- Acebutolol (Sectral®)
- Betaxolol (Kerlone®)
- Bisoprolol (Zebeta®)
- Carvedilol (Coreg®, Coreg CR®)
- Esmolol (Brevibloc®)
- Labetalol (Trandate®)
- Metoprolol (Lopressor®, Toprol-XL®)
- Nebivolol (Bystolic®)
- Penbutolol (Levatol®)
- Propranolol (Inderal®, Inderal® LA, InnoPran XL™)
- Sotalol (Betapace®)
- Timolol
- Cimetidine (Tagamet®)
- CYP 1A2 inhibitor medications, such as:
- Ciprofloxacin (Cipro®, Cipro® XR)
- Fluvoxamine (Luvox®, Luvox® CR)
- Ketoconazole (Nizoral®)
- Lidocaine
- Methoxsalen (8-MOP®, Oxsoralen-Ultra®)
- Mexiletine
- Norfloxacin (Noroxin®)
- Ofloxacin (Floxin®)
- Primaquine
- CYP 2D6 inhibitor medications, such as:
- Bupropion (Aplenzin™, Budeprion SR®, Budeprion XL®, Buproban®, Wellbutrin®, Wellbutrin SR®, Wellbutrin XL®, Zyban®)
- Chlorpromazine
- Cinacalcet (Sensipar®)
- Cocaine

- Efavirenz (Sustiva®)
- Efavirenz, emtricitabine, and tenofovir (Atripla®)

- Fosphenytoin (Cerebyx®)
- Nafcillin
- Nevirapine (Viramune®)
