Common side effects of propranolol include insomnia, low blood sugar, and vomiting. Serious side effects that should be reported to your healthcare provider immediately include dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting spells. However, most people tolerate the drug quite well. If propranolol side effects occur, they are typically minor and can be easily treated by you or your healthcare provider.
An Overview of Propranolol Side Effects
As with any medicine, side effects are possible with
propranolol hydrochloride (
Inderal®). However, not everyone who takes propranolol will experience side effects. In fact, most people tolerate the drug quite well. If side effects do develop, in many cases, they are minor, meaning that they require no treatment or are easily treated by you or your healthcare provider. Serious side effects are far less common, but can still occur.
(This article covers many, but not all, of the possible side effects with propranolol. Your healthcare provider can discuss a more complete list of propranolol side effects with you.)
