Prinivil Side Effects

Heart Failure
Prinivil has been studied extensively in clinical trials for people with congestive heart failure. The most common side effects of Prinivil, occurring in more than 1 percent of people with heart failure, were:
 
In previous research studies, 11 percent of people taking Prinivil for congestive heart failure stopped taking the medicine because of side effects.
 
Heart Attack
For people taking Prinivil following a heart attack, the most common reactions, occurring in more than 1 percent of people, were:
 
  • Extremely low blood pressure
  • Kidney problems.
     
In this category, 17.6 percent of people stopped taking the drug because of side effects.
 

Serious Side Effects of Prinivil

Some Prinivil side effects should be reported immediately to your healthcare provider. These include but are not limited to:
 
  • Unexplained swelling of the head or neck (including the face, lips, tongue, or throat)
  • Unexplained swelling of the hands and/or feet
  • Unexplained skin rash
  • Itching
  • Unexplained blisters or peeling of the skin
  • Wheezing
  • Difficulty breathing or swallowing
  • Dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting spells
  • Abdominal pain (stomach pain), with or without vomiting
  • Any symptoms that might suggest an infection, such as a fever or sore throat
  • A decrease in the amount of urine produced.
