Drug Interactions With Pitavastatin

In some cases, pitavastatin drug interactions can cause your body to metabolize the medicines differently than intended, which can increase your risk of developing serious muscle problems, including myopathy and rhabdomyolysis. A few of the drugs that can potentially react with pitavastatin include certain antibiotics, niacin, and colchicine. Also, taking this medication with grapefruit or grapefruit juice can increase your risk for dangerous side effects.

An Overview of Pitavastatin Interactions

 Pitavastatin (Livalo®) is a prescription medication licensed to treat high cholesterol (hyperlipidemia or dyslipidemia). This medication may potentially interact with many other medications.
