Nitro-Dur Indications

Nitro-Dur® (nitroglycerin patch) is a medicated skin patch approved for the prevention of chest pain (angina). Specifically, this patch is approved to prevent angina attacks in adults with coronary artery disease.
Healthcare providers may also occasionally recommend medications for "off-label," or unapproved, reasons. At this time, there are no universally accepted off-label uses (indications) for Nitro-Dur.
Because it comes in the form of a skin patch, Nitro-Dur does not work quickly enough to stop an angina attack that is already occurring. Therefore, this medicine is not appropriate for people who have only occasional or rare episodes of angina. It is also inappropriate for people who have angina due to other causes.
