Side Effects of Nicardipine SR

Common Side Effects of Nicardipine SR

Nicardipine SR has been studied thoroughly in clinical trials, in which the side effects of a group of people taking the drug are documented and then compared to the side effects of another group not taking the medicine. As a result, it is possible to see what side effects occur, how often they appear, and how they compare to the group not taking the medicine.

In these studies, the most common nicardipine SR side effects included:

  • Swelling or water retention in the lower legs or feet -- in up to 5.9 percent of people
  • Flushing or hot flashes -- up to 4.7 percent
  • Feelings of a rapidly or forcefully beating heart (palpitations) -- up to 2.8 percent
  • Nausea -- up to 1.9 percent
  • Dizziness -- up to 1.6 percent.

Some of these rare nicardipine SR side effects include, but are not limited to:

Side Effects of Nicardipine SR: Summary

It is possible that you may experience some or none of these nicardipine SR side effects explained above. Unfortunately, there is no way for your healthcare provider to know beforehand if you will have side effects from a medicine that you have never tried. Therefore, make sure to let your healthcare provider know if you develop any side effects. Also, let your healthcare provider know if you develop something that "just does not seem right." While it may not be a side effect of nicardipine SR, your healthcare provider will be able to diagnose and treat the problem.
