Mexiletine Side Effects

During clinical studies, mexiletine was reported to cause common side effects like indigestion, nervousness, and changes in sleep. Many of the adverse reactions to this medication tend to be minor and easy to treat. However, seek immediate medical treatment if you develop problems like shortness of breath, chest pain, or unexplained swelling.

An Introduction to Side Effects of Mexiletine

As with any medicine, mexiletine (Mexitil®) can cause side effects. However, not everyone who uses the medication will have problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider. Serious reactions are less common.
(This article covers many, but not all, of the possible side effects with mexiletine. Your healthcare provider can discuss a more complete list with you.)
