Mexiletine and Heartburn

During clinical studies of mexiletine (Mexitil®), heartburn and other gastrointestinal (GI) problems were the most commonly reported side effects, occurring in up to 39.6 percent of people. Some of the other GI problems that occurred included:

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Indigestion.

If you are taking mexiletine and develop anything that "just does not seem right," notify your healthcare provider immediately. He or she can help make a diagnosis and provide the necessary treatment.
