Hair loss appears to be a rare complaint in people taking metoprolol (available as Lopressor^®, Toprol XL^®, and generic metoprolol). In clinical studies prior to the approval of metoprolol, hair loss was reported rarely (less than 1 percent of people). In many cases, this hair loss appears to be reversible.

 

If you experience hair loss while taking metoprolol, talk with your healthcare provider. Depending on how severe the hair loss is, there are things that he or she may recommend. It is possible that if hair loss becomes bothersome, your doctor may recommend trying another medicine for your condition.
