Combining Nitrostat with blood pressure medications, ergot medicines, alcohol, and certain other drugs may cause negative reactions. Some of these drug interactions with Nitrostat can increase the risk for side effects or decrease the effectiveness of the medications. Before using Nitrostat, make sure your healthcare provider is aware of any medicine, vitamin, or supplement you are taking.

An Overview of Interactions With Nitrostat

Nitrostat® (nitroglycerin tablets) may interact with a number of other medications. Some of the drugs that can lead to interactions with Nitrostat include but are not limited to:
 
  • Alcohol
  • Alteplase (Activase®)
  • Anticholinergic medications, such as:
 
 
 
    • Bromocriptine (Parlodel®)
    • Dihydroergotamine (Migranal®)
    • Ergonovine
    • Ergotamine (Cafergot®, Ergomar®)
    • Methylergonovine (Methergine®)
    • Pergolide (Permax®)
 
  • Phenothiazine medications, such as:
 
 
  • Phosphodiesterase type-5 (PDE5) inhibitors, such as:
