Based on your past medical history, physical exam and current symptoms, your doctor is recommending a stress test.
This test may also be used if you have undergone a procedure such as balloon angioplasty, bypass surgery or ablation to monitor the progress of your recovery.
The purpose of this test is to check the blood supply to your heart muscle, while you are active and resting. The test may reveal areas in your heart that are not getting enough blood, which may indicate heart disease or a previous heart attack. The test does not specifically locate or identify blockages. The test identifies general areas that may be of concern.
