Flecainide Acetate Information

A healthcare provider may prescribe flecainide acetate (TambocorTM) to prevent certain irregular heart rhythms. Although it is approved for use in adults, there may be some cases where a healthcare provider may prescribe flecainide to children.

Side effects can occur and may include dizziness, vision problems, and headaches. This medication does have a risk for causing life-threatening irregular heart rhythms, so it may need to be started in a hospital setting, where careful monitoring and emergency care can be provided.

Although this can be an effective medicine for many people, not everyone can take it. Information on flecainide acetate should be reviewed with your healthcare provider before starting treatment to help minimize potential risks. For instance, people who have had a recent heart attack or those who are taking certain medications may not be able to safely use flecainide.
