prasugrel hydrochloride), an antiplatelet drug. This product is used in combination with aspirin to reduce the risk of

stroke, blood clots, and death following the
angioplasty procedure to treat a blocked coronary artery after experiencing a heart attack or heart-related chest pain.
Effient comes in the form of a tablet and is taken once a day. Because the drug can cause significant side effects, such as internal bleeding, your healthcare provider will need specific information on your current medications and health history before prescribing Effient. Tell your healthcare provider if you have any of the following conditions:
- A bleeding disorder
- Intestinal or stomach ulcers or bleeding
- Bleeding in the brain
- An aneurysm
- Severe liver disease, such as liver failure or cirrhosis.
