Brilinta Medication Information

As a prescription antiplatelet drug, Brilinta^TM (ticagrelor) is used to prevent problems such as strokes and heart attacks in people with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). It is also used to prevent clots from forming in the stent after an angioplasty.

 

Brilinta comes in tablet form and is taken twice a day. This medicine is designed to be taken with aspirin; the two products work together to prevent platelets from sticking together.

 

Although the drug is generally well tolerated, it is not suitable for everyone. Before using Brilinta, make sure your healthcare provider has up-to-date information on your medical history and a list of your current medications. In particular, let your healthcare provider know if you have a bleeding disorder, liver disease, or any allergies. Side effects may include bleeding and shortness of breath.
