Amiodarone Premixed Injection Information
If you are an adult with a life-threatening ventricular arrhythmia, you may receive a prescription medicine called amiodarone premixed injection (Nexterone®). However, before prescribing this drug, your healthcare provider needs information on your medical history and a current list of all medications, vitamins, and supplements you are taking.
Amiodarone premixed injection is given as an intravenous (IV) infusion by your healthcare provider in a healthcare setting. Side effects may include fever, nausea, and a slow heart rate.
While this medication may help keep the heart rate at a normal rhythm in many people, it is not appropriate for everyone. In fact, amiodarone premixed injection can cause potentially life-threatening complications.
