Does Flaxseed Oil Really Work?
It's important to keep in mind that flaxseed oil does not provide all the health
benefits of flaxseed, since it does not contain the fiber and
phytoestrogens found in the seeds. People sometimes assume that flaxseed oil and flaxseed can be used interchangeably for the same benefits, but this is simply not the case.
Does Flaxseed Oil Work for Rheumatoid Arthritis?
Research suggests that flaxseed oil probably does not provide much benefit for treating rheumatoid
arthritis, although more studies are necessary to fully explore this issue. In one study, flaxseed oil did not improve pain or stiffness in people with rheumatoid arthritis.
Does Flaxseed Oil Work for Constipation?
Many people use flaxseed oil for constipation, but there is no research to suggest that flaxseed oil is as useful as a laxative. Flaxseed (whole, ground, powdered, or in baked goods), but not flaxseed oil, contains soluble fiber that helps with constipation. Since flaxseed oil does not contain fiber, it is probably not as effective as flaxseed for constipation.
