Drug Interactions With Felodipine
Beta blockers, protease inhibitors, and certain antibiotics are some of the medications that may potentially interact with felodipine. Drug interactions with felodipine may alter the levels of the medications in your blood. As a result, you may have an increased risk of developing side effects or the medication may not be as effective. To help prevent interactions with felodipine, make sure to tell your healthcare provider about any other medications you are taking.
Felodipine (Plendil®) can potentially interact with a number of other medicines. Some of these felodipine interactions can include:
- Beta blockers, such as:
- Atenolol (Tenormin®)
- Bisoprolol (Zebeta®)
- Metoprolol (Lopressor®, Toprol XL®)
- Nadolol (Corgard®)
- Propranolol (Inderal®)
- Sotalol (Betapace®)
- Timolol (Blocadren)
- Carvedilol (Coreg®)
- Labetalol (Trandate®)
- Certain antibiotics or antifungals, including:
- Clarithromycin (Biaxin®)
- Erythromycin (Ery-Tab®)
- Itraconazole (Sporanox®)
- Ketoconazole (Neoral®)
- Miconazole
- Telithromycin (Ketek®)
- Certain seizure medications, such as carbamazepine (Tegretol®, Tegretol XR®), phenobarbital (Luminal®), and phenytoin (Dilantin®)
- Cimetidine (Tagamet®)
- Delavirdine (Rescriptor®)
- Grapefruit juice
- Imatinib (Gleevec®)
- Nefazodone (Serzone®)
- Protease inhibitors, such as:
- Amprenavir (Agenerase®)
- Atazanavir (Reyataz®)
- Fosamprenavir (Lexiva®)
- Indinavir (Crixivan®)
- Nelfinavir (Viracept®)
- Ritonavir (Norvir®)
- Tacrolimus (Prograf®).
