Drug Interactions With Dofetilide

Fingolimod
Combining fingolimod with dofetilide could increase your risk for a heart rhythm problem. Your healthcare provider will monitor your heart rhythm before starting fingolimod if you are taking dofetilide.

Lidocaine
Combining lidocaine with dofetilide could increase the risk for a potentially serious abnormal heartbeat. Talk to your healthcare provider before using lidocaine products, such as lidocaine cream or gel, if you are taking dofetilide, as some of the lidocaine could be absorbed into the body and potentially interact with dofetilide.

Loop Diuretics
Combining a loop diuretic with dofetilide could increase your risk for a potentially serious heart rhythm problem. Your healthcare provider may need to monitor your heart rhythm more closely if you take these medicines together.

QT-Prolonging Medications
In general, dofetilide should not be combined with any other medication that can cause QT prolongation (a certain change in the heart rhythm), due to the risk of a life-threatening abnormal heartbeat (heart arrhythmia).

Megestrol
Megestrol may increase blood levels of dofetilide, increasing the risk for a dangerous heart rhythm problem. These medicines should not be used together.

Metformin
Metformin may increase blood levels of dofetilide, potentially increasing the risk for dofetilide side effects. Your healthcare provider may choose to monitor you more closely if you take these medicines together.

Mifepristone
Combining mifepristone with dofetilide may increase your risk for a dangerous abnormal heartbeat. You should not take dofetilide in combination with mifepristone, or within two weeks of taking mifepristone, if you have been using mifepristone on a continuous basis. It is unknown whether the use of a single dose of mifepristone to terminate a pregnancy will interact with dofetilide in the same way.
