Coreg CR Drug Interactions

Coreg CR Interactions Explained

The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative interactions that can occur when any of the drugs mentioned above are combined with Coreg CR.

Alpha Blockers
Combining Coreg CR with an alpha blocker can increase the risk of dangerously low blood pressure (hypotension). Check with your healthcare provider before combining such medications.

Calcium Channel Blockers
Combining Coreg CR with certain calcium channel blockers may cause dangerously low blood pressure and (for verapamil or diltiazem) a slow heart rate (bradycardia). You may need to be monitored very closely if you take these medications together. In some cases, it is not recommended to combine Coreg CR with a calcium channel blocker.

Certain Antidepressants
If you are taking Coreg CR and certain antidepressants together, your body may metabolize Coreg CR differently than intended. This can cause an increased level of Coreg CR in your body. If you are using these medicines together, your healthcare provider may choose to monitor you more closely and/or adjust your Coreg CR dosage if needed.

Certain Antipsychotics
If you are taking Coreg CR and certain antipsychotics together, your body may metabolize Coreg CR differently than intended. This can cause an increased level of Coreg CR in your body. If you are using these medicines together, your healthcare provider may choose to monitor you more closely and/or adjust your Coreg CR dose if needed.

Certain Arrhythmia Medications
Combining Coreg CR with certain arrhythmia medications may cause a dangerously slow heart rate (bradycardia). You may need to be monitored very closely if you take these medications together. In some cases, it is not recommended to combine Coreg CR with an arrhythmia medication.
