Choline Fenofibrate Dosage

Your healthcare provider will recommend a dosage of choline fenofibrate based on the reason you are taking it, existing medical conditions, and other medications you may be taking. This medication comes in the form of a delayed-release capsule and is taken once a day. Most people with high cholesterol take 135 mg a day. However, people with kidney disease often require a lower amount.

An Introduction to Your Dose of Choline Fenofibrate

The dosage of choline fenofibrate (Trilipix®) your healthcare provider recommends will vary, depending on a number of factors, including:
 
  • How you respond to choline fenofibrate
  • Other medical conditions you may have
  • Other medications you may be taking.
 
As is always the case, do not adjust your dose unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so.
 

Choline Fenofibrate Dosage for High Cholesterol

The recommended dose of choline fenofibrate for most people with high cholesterol is 135 mg once daily. For people with mild-to-moderate kidney disease, a lower starting dosage is recommended: 45 mg once daily. This medication is not recommended for people with severe kidney disease.
 

Dosing for High Triglycerides

The recommended starting choline fenofibrate dose for treating severely high triglycerides is 45 to 135 mg once daily. Your healthcare provider should check your cholesterol and triglyceride levels in four to eight weeks before adjusting this amount as necessary.
