Cartia XT (Cardizem CD®) is medication that is used for controlling high blood pressure and treating angina. It is a calcium channel blocker that helps to reduce blood pressure and make it easier for the heart to pump blood. The drug, which is available by prescription, comes in the form of extended-release capsules. It is currently available in both brand-name and generic form.
 
This medication may not be right for everyone. Before starting treatment, be sure to let your healthcare provider know if you have any other medical conditions, such as liver disease, low blood pressure, or any allergies. Side effects of this medicine may include headache, weakness, and bradycardia, among others.
