Cardiovascular disease is a general term referring to a group of more than 60 disorders affecting the heart or blood vessel system throughout the body (arteries, capillaries, and veins). This is not the same thing as heart disease, which refers only to diseases of the heart and the blood vessel system within the heart. High blood pressure, heart disease, and stroke are the most common forms of cardiovascular disease.
