Preparing for Atherectomy

An
atherectomy is usually performed on an inpatient basis, which means you will stay in the hospital after the procedure. In some cases, you may also need to stay overnight before the atherectomy.

As part of preparing for atherectomy, you will be given specific instructions as to where and when to arrive at the medical facility, what you need to do ahead of time, and what to expect the day of and the days following your atherectomy recovery.

You will be asked not to eat or drink anything at least eight hours before the procedure. And because you will not be able to drive for some time afterwards, be sure to arrange for someone to drive you home on the day you leave the hospital.
