Kidney Problems After Atherectomy

While rare, temporary or permanent kidney problems are one of the potentially serious
 complications of atherectomy. The precise cause of kidney failure has not been established. Most of time, these problems are temporary, and kidney function returns to normal within seven days, causing no permanent damage. Fewer than 1 in 100 patients that do develop kidney problems go on to require chronic dialysis.
