Infections Following Atherectomy

Because an
 atherectomy is a sterile procedure, infections are extremely unusual. The risk has decreased even further with the use of disposable, single-use catheters that are certified as sterile. Infections that do occur are usually minor, and involve the vein that was used to insert the catheter.
