Angioplasty Risks and Kidney Disease

It's important to be aware of
angioplasty risks, and kidney disease may affect those risks. If you have kidney disease, you are at an increased risk for kidney failure when you have a procedure that requires the use of intravenous contrast dye; angioplasty requires the use of this dye. If you develop kidney failure, you may need medical treatment to filter your blood. This is called dialysis. In most cases, intravenous contrast dye-related kidney failure is not permanent.
