Click on an icon to view.Angina most often occurs when the coronary arteries become hardened and narrowed due to plaque buildup from a condition called atherosclerosis. This narrowing of blood vessels can make it difficult to get enough blood to the heart muscle, especially during times of exertion. This can result in angina symptoms. If you have angina, make sure to talk with your healthcare provider about what to do when symptoms occur. He or she is in the best position to understand your particular situation and give recommendations.
