Drug Interactions With Amlodipine

Amlodipine Besylate

According to the prescribing information for

amlodipine besylate (Norvasc^®), there are no drugs that amlodipine appears to interact with.

In clinical trials, amlodipine has been safely taken with numerous other medications, including:

Alcohol
Antacids
Antibiotics
Other blood pressure medications
Cimetidine (Tagamet^®)
Digoxin (Digitek^®, Lanoxin^®)
Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen
Oral diabetes medications (see Diabetes Medication)
Phenytoin (Dilantin^®, Phenytek^®)
Sildenafil (Viagra^®)
Statins (such as Lipitor^®, Zocor^®, or Crestor^®)
Thiazide diuretics
Warfarin (Coumadin^®, Jantoven^®).

Because it is not possible to study a medication with every other medication, there may be drug interactions with amlodipine that are not known at this time. It is always a good idea to make sure that all your healthcare providers know exactly which medications you are taking, to help avoid drug interactions.
