Amlodipine for Children

 Amlodipine besylate (Norvasc®) belongs to a class of drugs called calcium channel blockers. It is approved to control high blood pressure (hypertension) and to treat certain types of heart disease, such as:
 
Healthcare providers may prescribe amlodipine for children as young as six years old for the treatment of high blood pressure. However, before your child uses this medication, talk to your healthcare provider about the benefits and potential risks of giving children amlodipine.
