Amlodipine 2.5 mg Tablets

Amlodipine besylate (Norvasc^®) is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and heart disease, including angina and coronary artery disease in people who do not have heart failure. The medication comes in tablet form and is available in three different strengths, including:

Amlodipine 2.5 mg tablets
Amlodipine 5 mg tablets
Amlodipine 10 mg tablets.

The recommended starting dose in adults with high blood pressure or heart disease is amlodipine 5 mg once daily. Your healthcare provider may increase or decrease your dosage as necessary. Children ages six and older being treated for high blood pressure typically start with amlodipine 2.5 mg tablets or 5 mg tablets (one tablet, once daily).

This medication has been studied thoroughly in clinical trials, in which a group of people taking the drug have side effects documented and compared to another group not taking the medicine. Based on the results of these studies, some of the most common amlodipine side effects include swelling or water retention, fatigue, and dizziness.
