Amlodipine 10 mg Tablets

Amlodipine besylate (Norvasc®) is often prescribed for the treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension) and heart disease, including coronary artery disease in people who do not have heart failure. It comes in tablet form and is available in several different strengths, including:
  • Amlodipine 2.5 mg tablets
  • Amlodipine 5 mg tablets
  • Amlodipine 10 mg tablets.
The recommended starting dose for people with high blood pressure or heart disease is amlodipine 5 mg once daily. If your condition does not improve, your healthcare provider may recommend amlodipine 10 mg tablets (one tablet daily). The dosage can also be decreased if you experience bothersome side effects, such as chest pain, rapid weight gain, or severe swelling and water retention.
The recommended starting dose for children as young as six years old with high blood pressure is amlodipine 2.5 to 5 mg once daily.
